CIX Mixer: Fireside Chat With Steve Woods, Nudge and David Crow, OMERS Ventures

The 2014 CIX Montreal & Toronto Mixers were a great success and the perfect kick-off to this year’s main event, taking place November 18th at MaRS Discovery District in Toronto.

Held at the Richter offices in Montreal, Wednesday night’s Mixer featured two informative fireside chats, the first between Todd Dean of Aldo Group and iNovia Capital’s Chris Arsenault followed by Frank & Oak’s Ethan Song and RHO’s Roger Chabra. Attracting a full crowd of entrepreneurs, investors and professional service providers, the foursome shed light on the future of the Canadian start-up scene, offering valuable insight on the entrepreneurial philosophies that continue their success.

Similarly, Thursday’s Toronto Mixer at The Working Group offices sold out, drawing in entrepreneurs, past CIX Top 20 Alumni and even a few business students. Omers Ventures’ David Crow lead a fireside chat with Steve Woods – Co-founder and CTO of Nudge. Discussing investment in technology and the power Toronto currently holds when it comes to entrepreneurship, Woods noted “The Toronto scene has changed significantly, and there’s a lot more capital out there.” Having co-founded Eloqua fourteen years ago, Woods offered a smart brief on the do’s and don’ts of looking for investors and the need for improved lead generation and demand marketing services. On entrepreneurship and the transformation employment has experienced, Woods pointed out that employers are now “selling on passion while employees are looking to work where they are believed in.” He concluded by stating that this is “arguably one of the best times ever to be an entrepreneur”.

CIX would like to thank Richter for making this fantastic event a success for the Toronto entrepreneurial tech and innovation community.

We look forward to seeing you at CIX this fall!

Don’t forget to submit your Digital Media and ICT projects to the CIX Top 20 by Sept. 19th & join the BEST in Canadian tech and innovation!
